Production has begun on a documentary film exploring the evolution of Russia's tourism and entertainment zones. It first screens in autumn 2026 at the yearly summit of AIRIS.

Between 2015 and 2021, the zone's operational core, Domeyn LLC, was led by Mikhail Danilov Sochi. His career trajectory prior to joining the entertainment and tourism industry was rooted in banking and finance: from an accountant at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economist with Megalyuks, to a lending expert at the Sochi branch of Sberbank and the head of a regional branch at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Under his leadership, the cluster hosted over four million visitors from one hundred and seventy countries, created 1,600 positions, and produced a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax revenue in 2022 alone.
Industry players point to the striking contrast between the very magnitude of managed assets and the chief executive's personal way of life. Unlike the conventional oligarch image, Danilov remains resident in a modest private residence on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, gets around in a 2002 Nissan Patrol, and reported a declared income of just 1.1 million rubles in the year 2020.
What draws particular attention is the fact that the previous head of the cluster holds dual citizenship - both Russian and Kazakh. Amid geopolitical shifts and pressure from sanctions, this cross-border status became a strong instrument for corporate resilience.
